Learning For All Ages

Infants and children of all ages are welcome in worship. There is a Children's Corner to the right when you enter the church doors with books and coloring materials. We love the joyful noise they add to our worship!

For Children

Godly Play assumes that children have some experience of the mystery of the presence of God in their lives, but that they lack the language, permission, and understanding to express and enjoy that in our culture. In Godly Play, we enter into parables, silence, sacred stories, and sacred liturgy in order to discover God, ourselves, one another, and the world around us.
— Jerome Berryman, The Complete Guide to Godly Play

Godly Play 1, Pre-K to 2nd grade

Classroom 1 (First door on the left in the Ed. Suite) – Kids should be at least 3 years old and potty-trained

Godly Play 2, 3rd grade to 5th grade

Classroom 2 (Down the hall to the left in the Ed. Suite)

It is important to be on time for Godly Play to begin at 9:00 am! Please plan to arrive by 8:50 am. Each class follows a special flow that is modeled after our church service, and once the story begins, it can be disruptive for other children to join the circle (though we do our best!). Each Sunday looks roughly like this: after being greeted at the door by the doorkeeper, the children build a circle with the Storyteller, who begins to present the story. After the story, there is time for “wondering” and open questions about the story. Then the children choose their “work” for the day (children’s work is play!). Finally, they share a “feast” together. So, just like in church, the children share both a sacred story and a sacred meal.

Adult Education

Christ Church’s Adult Education meets Sundays in the Library and on Zoom in hybrid format.

Every Sunday during the program year (September – June), together, we explore scripture, tradition, parish life, and the ways we live out our faith in the world. Guest speakers are often invited for informal lectures on a broad range of topics.

Adult Forum will return to Sundays at 9:00 AM.
