Evensong Choir tour to England, May and June 2011

Posted on Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

The members of the CCC Evensong Choir are excited to be planning a trip to England for 10 days in May and June next year. We will be visiting around half a dozen of the great medieval cathedrals and college chapels of southern England. Most importantly, we will be not just visitors or performers but actually singing the Eucharist or Evensong service and part of the local community's worship in these wonderful old churches. Stuart will, of course, be leading and directing, and Joe is planning to accompany us as chaplain, so it will be true evangelism from the Episcopalians of Cambridge to another part of the Anglican communion. Travelling together, we get the benefits of group rates for hotels and airfares and the ability to share a tour bus while we're in England, which is the cheapest way to get large numbers of people from place to place. The majority of the choir have the means to pay their own way and will be doing so, but overseas tours do not come cheap and we do not want any choir member to be disbarred on grounds of affordability. There are several ways in which you can help. For the globetrotters amongst you there are a limited number of places for non-singing friends and supporters to join the trip. A larger group means slightly greater economies of scale and we would love having you with us at the services. Speak to Stuart or a member of the Evensong Choir for more details of schedules and cost. Even if physically travelling with us is not something you can manage, we would greatly appreciate your financial contributions in any amount. Please speak to Stuart or any member of the Music Committee about how you might help. You can also expect to see several events over the next year where we can all have fun and raise funds for this singing mission. Thank you for your support in this tour and all the music we make together at CCC.
